About Us

The Knoll Law Firm traces its roots to 1966 when Jerold Edward "Eddie" Knoll graduated from law school and returned to his native Avoyelles Parish to practice law. In 1967, Eddie married Jeannette Theriot Knoll, whom he met at Loyola School of Law, New Orleans. After Jeannette graduated in 1969, the couple partnered to create the law office of "Knoll & Knoll". Back then, the firm was located at the old yellow record shop on Main Street in downtown Marksville. In 1972, Eddie and Jeannette purchased the firm’s present home, a 1932 Tudor style office building located at 233 South Main Street in Marksville.

In 1972, Eddie was elected as Avoyelles Parish’s 32nd District Attorney, and the youngest District Attorney in the State of Louisiana. Eddie held that office for 30 consecutive years until his retirement in 2002. From 1973 to 1982, in the days before Louisiana’s nepotism laws, Jeannette served as Eddie’s First Assistant District Attorney. Not only did the couple prosecute thousands of criminal offenses, together, they also maintained one of the most thriving civil law practices in Central Louisiana.

In 1982, things changed when Jeannette, making her first run for public office, was elected to the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal, an office she maintained until 1996. That particular victory rewrote Louisiana history books as Jeannette became the first woman ever elected to a Louisiana appellate court judgeship. Jeannette was elected to the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1996, an office she still occupies.

Today, The Knoll Law Firm maintains a proud legacy of family helping family. The Knoll Law Firm remains a family practice comprised of father, Eddie, and his two oldest sons, Triston and Eddie, Jr. Just as the original partnership between Eddie and Jeannette grew from a burning desire to deliver the finest legal services to fellow families, the firm's current incarnation strives to maintain those ideals.

Let our family fight for yours!
